Liferange 1.1

In this review, I assess Liferange as a longevity-oriented app that presents its ideas through two metaphors—the Lifeclock and the Biometer.

• Lifeclock: The Lifeclock displays the span of a life on a 12-hour dial, from birth to an estimated death. The clock's position represents the user’s current age in hours, minutes, and seconds, offering a visual reference for the passage of time.

• Biometer: The Biometer translates chronological age and biological age into a gauge. When the two hands converge, the ages align; when they diverge, the user may feel older or younger than calendar age, highlighting the potential gap between calendar time and physiological state.

• Longevity factors and scoring: The model incorporates activity level, stress, risk behaviors, and genetics into an estimate of lifespan. Users self-score these factors on a 1–10 scale. The interface makes it easy to observe how changes in activity, stress, and risk behaviors could influence the estimated lifespan, while genetics are acknowledged as a less malleable factor (with genetics potentially changing in the future).

• Model and scope: The app describes its approach as a toy model that uses metaphors grounded in current health and longevity research to illustrate how lifestyle choices may delay or hasten mortality. It is not a precise prediction tool.

• Intent and limitations: Liferange is positioned as a source of inspiration, entertainment, and education rather than a medical or life-length forecast. Users should interpret its outputs as illustrative, not predictive.
